Dug: “I didn’t see Ironman’s action at the end of The Avengers as self sacrifice. Did you miss the phone call he made prior to his climatic heroic act? He called Pepper Potts because she is what mattered most to him and he could not live without her. His act was selfish and in accord with his highest value. He was a hero in the most Randian sense.”
